No. The speaker’s wireless connection is Bluetooth only.
The SoundLink Micro’s Bluetooth connection is capable of stable operation at up to 30 ft (9 m). Performance can be affected by obstacles such as walls or metal, interference from Wi-Fi or other wireless devices, and device manufacturers’ Bluetooth implementations.
Yes. There are three options to group a SoundLink Micro speaker with other Bose speakers:
· Party Mode
· Stereo Mode
· SimpleSync
Party Mode lets you connect two Bose Bluetooth speakers to play audio in perfect sync through the Bose Connect app.
Stereo Mode lets you connect two Bose Bluetooth speakers to play audio in stereo through the Bose Connect app.
SimpleSync is a Bose proprietary technology that allows you to pair a Bose smart speaker or soundbar to a Bose portable speaker for a synchronized audio experience. Devices must stay within the typical Bluetooth wireless range (30 feet) of each other to remain connected.
For SoundLink Micro, we’ve stretched beyond the required testing parameters — in this case, an IP67-rated product — to ensure that your speaker will long outlast an accidental drop into water or getting exposed to a dust storm. The SoundLink Micro is completely dust-tight and can be immersed in water up to 3.3 ft (1 m) deep, for up to 30 minutes.
IP67, the IP Code (International Protection Rating or Ingress Protection Rating), classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water in electrical enclosures. In the case of SoundLink Micro, the IP67 rating indicates that the enclosure is dust-tight and provides protection against harmful entrance of water when getting fully submerged under specified conditions [up to 1 meter (3 ft 3 in) of submersion].
Two things to keep in mind when the speaker gets submerged:
· If the product is playing when it gets submerged (e.g. you drop it in a pool), the Bluetooth connectivity will be lost almost immediately. It’s possible that the product will reconnect automatically to the Bluetooth device it was connected to when you pull it out of the water, but it’s not a guarantee.
· If the product is completely saturated with water, the audio may sound crackled or distorted at first. It will eventually clear itself either with shaking it, blowing on it, or playing audio at a loud enough level.
Yes. The SoundLink Micro will sink; it does not float.
The SoundLink Micro keeps track of the last eight devices to have paired and connected with it, dropping the least recently used when a new one is paired.
Yes. The SoundLink Micro can be used for both out loud listening and hands-free communication.
When a call comes in, the audio on the SoundLink Micro will pause, and the call will ring through the speaker. If you wish to answer the call through the SoundLink Micro, simply press the multi-function button to answer the call. You can now talk into the speaker itself to conduct your phone call. Once you end your call, music playback will resume. Some details of this experience will vary depending on the implementation by the phone manufacturer.
Battery performance varies with the content played and volume at which it is played. In typical usage, the SoundLink Micro battery lasts up to 6 hours.
While not playing music, much of the SoundLink Micro’s battery charge can be recovered in approximately 4 hours when using a USB power source of 1 amp of current. With a 1.5 amp power source, charging time may be closer to 3 hours. Charging from alternate USB power sources, or when playing music, may take longer.
The voice prompts serve two key purposes. First, they provide guidance during the Bluetooth pairing and connection process so the customer understands how it works. Second, they identify the connected source devices by text to speech, simplifying usage with more than one source device.
Yes. Voice prompts can be disabled either in the Bose Connect app, or by simultaneously pressing the “+” (volume up) and “–” (volume down) buttons. We recommend leaving voice prompts enabled because of the additional functionality they provide.
Yes. However, the quality of the experience — specifically, synchronization between audio and video — may be compromised due to various signal processing technologies implemented in the speakers.
